Johannesburg - Beauty contestants from different parts of the country converged on Gauteng province for the prestigious Face of Devotion Mzansi 2022 pageant where at the end of the glorious evening, winners were crowned.
Face of Devotion is centred around giving a platform to contestants from different backgrounds without beauty standards or societal norms being a barrier.
Karabo Matjee, who is the overall winner of the Face of Devotion Mzansi 2022 pageant, commented about her win, revealing that being part of the pageant taught her many lessons.
“I define myself as an ambitious, beautiful queen who never settles for less.
“One lesson I took from this experience is that you should never allow a person to define who you are and what you stand for. Remember to keep your dreams alive and understand that achieving anything requires effort and most importantly, self-belief,” said Matjee.
Sinethemba Ndyoko from the Eastern Cape also spoke about what it meant to be Face of Devotion’s second princess.
“I am an ambitious person and appreciate working with people who have the same mindset. For me, life is filled with excitement, as I am adventurous by nature. I like to face and accomplish new challenges because it gives me the zeal to work towards excellence. One thing I firmly believe in is that one should always strive for individual growth, whatever its form may be.
“Winning this title has made me feel more confident about myself. I am so honoured for winning this title,” she said.
Andile Lawrence Gumede discusses his experience as the new Face of Devotion, Mzansi, Mr 2022 Overall Winner.
“Honestly, I don't have words to describe the joy I feel within my spirit. I'm still reminiscing about the greatest moment my name was called to be crowned the New Face of Devotion Mzansi Mr Overall Winner, which made me remember from the beginning of my journey up until now. I had always been getting these wonderful compliments from my management especially our mother's devotion to the Mzansi Ambassador of 2021 Rebaone Phiti. I held on to the potential they see and look where it got me.
“I am now the Face of Devotion Mzansi 2022, Mr Overall. I'm glad to have made my management proud; my family is proud, and my loved ones are as well. Thank you all for every effort you've put in to help me get this far. Now I am so ready and excited for my duties as the overall winner of the whole of South Africa.”
Founder of the pageant, Oscar Mabuza, said they hope the pageant becomes bigger and gets the recognition it deserves.
“What we want is to get all these countries to watch the Face of Devotion. Get your ministers and all prominent people to support the representatives from different countries,“ said Mabuza.
