Johannesburg - Two more lucky Absa customers' lives changed after they drove away with new cars as part of the bank's "Rediscover Real Living" campaign.

"It’s about us helping our customers with the right tools to kickstart and rediscover their lives," Absa's head of consumer lending, Nick Nkosi, said at the Toyota dealership in Bryanston.

As part of the campaign which was launched in July, Absa ran a competition to give away brand-new Toyota Starlets to two customers on Monday morning.

During the gathering, the two winners were handed the keys to their fiery red vehicles and also won one year of free car insurance. The other three winners drove away with their cars in October.

The two lucky customers who drove away with keys to their new cars were Jacobus Meyer from Potchefstroom, North West and Wendy Nyoni from Brakpan, Ekurhuleni.

Speaking to The Star after she was handed her keys, Nyoni said she was in shock when she found out she had won a car, as she was automatically entered in the competition when she took out a personal loan.

"I’m still in disbelief, but now that I’m here and actually got into the car, I only believe it now," she said.

Meyer said he was convinced that he had been scammed when Absa called to say he won a car.

But the timing of the new vehicle was perfect for the Meyer family, as their previous vehicle was written off due to an accident at the start of 2022.

"The blessings just keep coming in. We gave birth to our beautiful daughter three weeks ago, our house was registered in our names three weeks ago (financed by Absa), and now I’ve won a car from Absa. It can’t get any better," Meyer said.

Nkosi added that the five people who won cars were the ultimate winners, but a lot of people won beyond just the cars.

"People wrote in and told us about what they are doing with their money. Those are also all the winners who told us about how they are starting their side hustles, their education, or whether they want to renovate," Nkosi said.

"It has been phenomenal for us to have that conversation with our customers to say, ‘Where are you right now? How can we help you to your next stage in life?’."
