If you’re an adventure seeker, then the best place for you to be this weekend is at the 2024 Sunday Tribune’s Great Outdoors Expo.
The event serves as a platform for exhibitors to showcase their latest products, services and innovations to a diverse audience of outdoor enthusiasts.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore innovative tents, durable backpacks, advanced GPS devices and many more goodies.
You’ll find everything you need to make your next outdoor adventure the best one yet, including caravans, boats, tyres, tents, camping gear, hiking equipment, fishing tackle or outdoor apparel.
There will also be a kids play and activity area, which is free to enter. Children will be supervised while enjoying jumping castles, giant slides, carnival games, crazy bikes, bungee trampolines and lots more.
There will also be more than 20 food and beverage stalls.

“Fortunate Son: Tribute to CCR”
Returning by popular demand, the Black Lapels will whisk audience away to the late ‘60s and early ‘70s with their musical homage to the iconic rock band, Creedence Clearwater Revival.
In the “Fortunate Son: Tribute to CCR” show, the Black Lapels unleash the full power of their amps, delivering an unmissable performance.
Audience can expect to hear all their favourite hits, including “Fortunate Son”, “Looking out my Back Door”, “Down on the Corner”, “Up around the Bend”, “Born on the Bayou” and “Green River”, among others.

Community Arts Mentorship Program
Aspiring theatre actors have the opportunity to audition for an eight week mentorship programme at The Playhouse Company.
Titled CAMP, fourteen young performers will be chosen to participate in this exciting programme which involves a series of comprehensive workshops covering all facets of theatre.
The interactive session cover the fundamentals of acting, singing, music, directing and dance to the more peripheral, yet equally critical areas of script writing and development, contracts and business administration, theatre history and archiving.
Young performers will be mentored by some of Durban’s top personalities including Sandile Mkhize, Xolisa Dlamini, Jarryd Watson, Iain “Ewok” Robinson and Nwabisa Plaatjie.

Andre The Hilarious Hypnotist
Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist returns to Pietermaritzburg to entertain fans with a fun and interactive live show.
The 70-minute act will showcase his signature brand of comedy and hypnosis.
The family-friendly show will have audiences hypnotised into believing that they are anything from a washing machine to a “Baywatch” lifeguard and a host of suggestions in between.
Andre offers the ultimate mix of hypnosis and funny routines, with a bag of dry jokes that will leave you in stitches.

Dr Raymond Perrier’s “Paddy Kearney - a Prophet for our Times” book launch
A book chronicling the life and work of activist Paddy Kearney, the founder of Diakonia and of the Denis Hurley Centre (DHC), will be launched at the 1860 Heritage Centre.
Put together by Dr Raymond Perrier, director of the DHC, the book, “Paddy Kearney - a Prophet for our Times”, is over 320 pages and includes fascinating historic photographs as well as links to additional online material.
Along with the launch is a special lecture by Judge Chris Nicholson.
