South African rapper Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr, known as Da Les, is said to be in need of financial assistance after he suffered a stroke on Friday, July 26.

The “All Eyes On Me” hitmaker has been hospitalised and according to Zimoja, his family has asked close friends for financial assistance to pay for his medical bills.

"Hi friends, as support to Leslie's family while Les is in hospital, we are encouraging friends to assist in kind to Leslie's mother's account below,” reads a note sent to De Les’ close friends (according to Zimoja).

"Whilst he is in a stable condition, this remains a challenging time for his loved ones, and his family calls on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period.”

When people saw the article in the online publication, they said they would be annoyed if they were in his shoes because his family pleading for donations would mess up his street credibility.

“Being the North God and hearing I need donations would cause me another stroke,” commented @2022AFRICA.

Others pulled receipts of when he used to host annual all-white parties and was very strict with his guests. At some point, he insisted that all female guests attending his party should wax as well as get a manicure and pedicure.

That alone painted a bad picture in the eyes of the public because he was policing women’s bodies for entry at his party. And while many wish him a speedy recovery, they said he should go to a public hospital if he couldn’t afford private healthcare.

“Jokes aside, but no amount of pride should deprive you from going to a public hospital if you can’t afford private medical bills,’” commented @ThatyMahloko.

Some were willing to donate to his medical bills but many were not budging because they felt South African celebrities were irresponsible with their money and then turned to the public for assistance when things went south.
