Following the riveting success of “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”, the second instalment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series is set to be released next month.

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”, which will premiere on Netflix on September 19, chronicles the chilling case of the real-life brothers who were convicted in 1996 for the murder of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch will star as Lyle and Erik Menéndez, respectively, with Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny portraying José and Kitty.

Meanwhile, Nathan Lane will feature as “Vanity Fair” journalist Dominick Dunne while Ari Graynor appears as defence lawyer Leslie Abramson.

The streaming giant’s official logline for the series reads: “While the prosecution argued they were seeking to inherit their family fortune, the brothers claimed – and remain adamant to this day, as they serve life sentences without the possibility of parole – that their actions stemmed out of fear from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.

The release of the Dahmer 2022 limited series, which starred Evan Peters as the famed serial killer, was expanded into an anthology after it garnered one billion views in its first 60 days and earned a whopping 13 Emmy Award nominations.

Meanwhile, Netflix released the trailer for “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” exactly 35 years after the Menéndez Brothers shot their parents inside their Beverly Hills mansion.

It opened with the words on-screen: “On August 20, 1989 Lyle and Erik Menendez Murdered Their Parents” as the two brothers drive up and walk into the Menendez estate. As they open the door a lone gunshot is heard.”

It also features the siblings arriving at their parents’ driveway on that evening, entering their home seconds before they shot their parents. A gunshot rings out as the screen goes black.

The Menéndez Brothers were convicted of murdering José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez in 1996 and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

To this day, they maintain that their motive stemmed from a lifetime of physical, emotional and sexual abuse by their parents.
