Two days after parting ways with head coach Eric Tinkler, Cape Town City FC announced the arrival of Muhsin Ertugral as technical director.

Tinkler was sacked after City's 1-0 home defeat against AmaZulu in a Betway Premiership clash on Sunday after a three-year stint at the club. The result left City 12th on the log, with just 11 points from their first 10 games of the season.

City have scored just six goals in the league this season, with only three other teams having scored fewer. Two of those sides are Richards Bay and Magesi FC who occupy the bottom two spots on the log.

Ertugral will step in as head coach of the team until the end of the season while Cape Town City go in search of a new coach to take over before the start of the next campaign.

Ertugral is no stranger to the Betway Premiership, having coached having coached Kaizer Chiefs, Santos, Ajax Cape Town, Golden Arrows, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Maritzburg United, and Orlando Pirates.

He worked with Cape Town City boss John Comitis at the now defunct Ajax, winning the ABSA Cup together in 2007.

"Cape Town City is delighted to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as Technical Director of the club," Cape Town City said in a statement.

"Muhsin brings a wealth of local and international football experience to the club's future project, having most recently served as the Technical Advisor of the Turkish national team for the past 4 years.

"Muhsin will step in as head coach until the end of the current season, joining first team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama."
