TS Galaxy moved out of the danger zone in the Betway Premiership thanks to a dominant 3-1 win over Sekhukhune United at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday.
The win — Galaxy’s first of the season — is a massive boost for the club, who saw Sead Ramovic walk away as head coach following their last game before the international break.
Adnan Beganovic was appointed in his place, and the Bosnian has made an immediate impact, guiding the club out of the relegation zone.
Wednesday’s perfomance was a pleasing one for the Tim Sukazi-owned outfit. While Sekhukhune saw more of the ball — just — The Rockets created more goalscoring opportunities, and they put them away.
They went ahead through a Tresor Yamba Yamba own goal in the 23rd minute, and Victor Letsoalo gave them a two-goal cushion on the half hour mark.
Belgian forward Dženan Zajmović then put the result beyond doubt when he beat the goalkeeper in the 65th minute.
Lesedi Kapinga was able to pull back a consolation goal for Sekhukhune in the 90th minute.
The result saw TS Galaxy move off the foot of the league table, and into 12th place, while Sekhukhune dropped down to 6th.
SuperSport United held by Chippa United
At the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha, Chippa United and SuperSport United had to settle for a point each after their game ended goalless.
The game featured a lot of shots at goal, but none was able to find the back of the net.
SuperSport United were one of the sides tipped to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the title, but their season has gone pear-shaped after just seven games.
Gavin Hunt’s men currently sit eighth in the league, well of the pace of the front runners.
Chippa United, on the other hand, moved above Sekhukhune after picking up the point.
In Pietermaritzburg, the KwaZulu-Natal derby between Royal AM and Golden Arrows kicked off late due to traffic on the N3 between Durban and the provincial capital.
