Following their loss to England in the Women’s T20 World Cup, all-rounder Nadine de Klerk says the Proteas will be desperate to get back on the winning track when they take on Scotland in Dubai on Wednesday.

The match starts at 12noon SA time.

The Proteas lost by seven wickets to England on Monday, after they thumped the West Indies in their tournament opener by 10 wickets over the weekend.

South Africa will certainly be hoping to put more runs on the board after they only managed 124/6 batting first against England.

Getting the job done

Despite their below-par performance with the willow, their confidence has not taken a hit says De Klerk.

"The main focus would be to win the next two games. I think we're still pretty confident in our squad,” said De Klerk.

“We played some good cricket for most of the 40 overs that we were on the field [against England]. The net run rate in these short competitions is always really important. Our main focus is how we go about our business [against Scotland]. But obviously, we want to win the game first and then try and focus on the net run rate and those sorts of thing.”

The performances of Annerie Dercksen, Laura Wolvaardt with the bat and the all-round contributions of Marizanne Kapp so far has been a definite positive said De Klerk.

"It's great. We've spoken a lot about being aggressive, being positive. And I know it might look a bit different in these conditions because it's not as easy to do that.

“But I think Annerie has shown that it's still possible to do it. And it's great to see her do so well, and I hope she continues to grow and get better as time goes.”
