The first Amazon-produced South African film, The Shakedown, promises to entertain, thrill, and leave viewers laughing out loud as many count the days to its eagerly-awaited premiere on August 8 on Prime Video.

In the film, Justin Diamond, a reputable medical assistance broker, gets embroiled in the Cape Town underworld after his mistress threatens to expose their secret affair.

As Diamond tries desperately to keep up his golden boy image, the plot becomes more intricate, involving dangerous crooks, misidentifications, and humorous incidents.

Viewers can expect a hilarious comedy caper that will have them on the edge of their seats as Diamond teams up with his ''black sheep" brother, Dovi, to handle the growing turmoil.

The star-studded cast includes LA-based Carl Beukes (Dominion, Lioness), Emmanuel Castis (Warrior, G20), and the much-loved Julia Anastasopoulos (Tali Babes, Suzelle DIY).

Others featured include Milton Schorr (Warrior, One Piece), James Borthwick (Hotel), David Isaacs (Joe Barber, Spinners), SA rapper icon Jack Parow—oh yes, and rising star Berenice Barbier.

Ari Kruger, a renowned director and co-writer known for his work on the critically acclaimed "Tali's Diary" series on Showmax and the popular webseries Suzelle DIY, is director and co-writer.

Kruger makes his feature film directing debut, showcasing his remarkable ability to balance action and comedy while still telling a heartfelt story. His accolades include three Best Comedy Director wins at the South African Film & Television Awards for his work on Tali’s Diary series. His diverse portfolio also includes directing award-winning short films, TV commercials, and comedy specials for Nik Rabinowitz and Marc Lottering.

About Sketchbook Studios: Ari Kruger and actress Julia Anastasopoulos own Sketchbook Studios, a Cape Town-based production company. Known for producing original content, television series, features, and commercials, Sketchbook Studios continues to push the boundaries of creativity and entertainment.

Carl Beukes brings a leading man quality and off-kilter goofiness to the role of Justin Diamond.

Emmanuel Castis is a standout as Dovi Diamond, bringing depth, humour, and unpredictable danger to the character.

Julia Anastasopoulos delivers a compelling, comedic, and natural performance as Natalie Diamond, Justin's wife, who, unbeknownst to her, also becomes entangled in the unfolding chaos and love triangle. Fans of Julia’s work are in for a treat to see her play a role outside of her well-known characters.

Jack Parow makes a notable appearance as one of the bumbling hitmen, Mikey, adding his unique South African flair and comedy to the ensemble.
