The five men accused of killing Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes and Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane will appear in the Durban High Court in May.
On Friday, Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court, where the State officially served its indictment.
They face at least 11 charges including, conspiracy to commit murder, murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder. Additionally, the state has added two charges of money laundering.
Speaking to IOL, National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, said Friday's proceedings marked a significant step in the case.
"The serving of the indictment on the accused is indeed a good sign for the case. It shows that the matter is progressing. The Magistrate indicated that the case is trial ready," she explained.
Ramkisson-Kara added that the accused will appear in the high court on May 8, where the various applications will be submitted for perhaps a pre-trial conference and the trial itself.
Regarding two accused who remain in Eswatini, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande, Ramkisson-Kara said that matter will unfold in its jurisdiction.
Forbes was shot dead while exiting a restaurant in Durban's Florida Road, on February 10, 2023, while celebrity chef Tebello 'Tibz' Motsoane, was fatally wounded.
