Senior Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi did not make it to the party’s Central Command Team (CCT) and leader Julius Malema said anyone absent from their elective conference should not be considered a leader.

"Our leaders are here, you all know them, you nominated them for three hours. You cannot be leaving here and telling us about non-existing leaders," Malema said.

“Anyone who is not elected by the province or by this conference is not a leader of the EFF.”

Malema emphasised no one should be recognised as a leader if they were not elected.

The EFF held its national people’s assembly (NPA) at the Nasrec Expo Centre this weekend and a new leadership including the CCT emerged. The CCT consists of 66 members, including the top six.

Malema’s remarks follow Ndlozi’s absence at the NPA 2024. He was barred from attending the conference due to his “ego” and “betrayal” of the movement.

Ndlozi came under fire after it was discovered that he knew that former deputy president Floyd Shivambu was leaving the party to join uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

Malema did not know about this until Shivambu’s resignation in August. Malema expressed that he could trust those who kept such secrets from him.

Ndlozi's current role and status within the party is called into question by this statement, especially considering his prior prominence as an EFF leader and spokesperson.
