Hyundai has unveiled the five-door hatchback version of its new Verna (called Accent in other markets) at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China.

The five-door Verna is being built exclusively for the Chinese market and Hyundai says it's a natural follow-up to the success of the four-door version, which rolled out in August.

The Verna is offered with a choice between two of Hyundai's familiar petrol engines; those being the 79kW/135Nm 1.4-litre and 90kW/155Nm 1.6-litre Gamma units.

Hyundai is making good progress on the Chinese market, with its total sales for 2010 expected to top the 700 000-unit mark, thanks to popular models like the Verna sedan and ix35 SUV. Hyundai will have the capacity to produce 1-million vehicles there after its third plant in China is completed in 2012.
