Hyundai is set to take another bold stab at the sports coupé realm and this new concept car is a sign of what's to come.

Hyundai says its HND-9 hints at Hyundai's next-generation luxury sports coupé design, hinting that the new Genesis two-door could look something like this.

While it's unlikely to inherit the concept car's dramatic 'butterfly' doors, there are many other design cues that could see the light of day; particularly that wide hexagonal-shaped grille up front and those spiralling element that runs down from the triangular headlights.

The concept is powered through the rear wheels by a 272kW 3.3-litre direct injection V6 turbopetrol engine that's hooked up to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

It's almost a given that we'll see this engine in the next Genesis and in other high-end Hyundais.
