Durban - A woman and a man were arrested after an operation in the Murchison area of Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal for allegedly dealing in crystal meth and mandrax.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said the operation was conducted on Wednesday by police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit.
Gwala said a sting operation was executed on an identified target suspected of dealing in drugs.
“The 29-year-old woman was found in possession of 18 packets of crystal meth and 80 mandrax tablets,” she said.
She said the recovered drugs are valued at R8 400.
Gwala said information obtained led the team to the Nkanyezini in Pietermaritzburg where a 35-year-old man was found in possession of 591 mandrax tablets.
Gwala said the drugs seized from the man are valued at R35 460.
Both suspects are expected to appear before the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, September 29, for possession and dealing in drugs.
