Durban – Newly elected KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube invited communities to come forward and make contributions that will shape government policies.

Dube-Ncube was speaking on Thursday, a day after she was sworn in as the 9th premier of the province during a special sitting and ahead of the introduction of the new provincial executive council (PEC) today.

The premier said today that the provincial government remained encouraged by messages of support from ordinary members of society, religious leaders, traditional leaders and big business.

“We are mindful of the high expectations from different sectors of society. It is for this reason that we are moving with speed to announce new members of the provincial executive council who will champion socio-economic development programmes of the ANC-government,” said Dube-Ncube.

Dube-Ncube said she and the PEC understood their responsibility to deliver a better life for all in KZN.

“As we move forward, we are making a call to communities to come forward and interact with the new provincial executive council and make contributions that will shape government policies to address issues of their concerns. You will find us to be a government that listens and takes seriously all matters placed for our attention.

“We accept that for the good of our province and our country, all communities must come forward and make their contribution, utilising the experience and expertise available to them to make ours a winning province,” said the premier.
