Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga has congratulated South Africa’s Soweto-born beauty queen Tshego Gaelae after she was crowned Mrs World in Las Vegas last week.
Gaelae has raised the South African flag high as she became the first black woman to be crowned Mrs World.
The minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga congratulated Gaelae on this historic feat.
“Tshego Gaelae has shattered barriers and redefined what it means to be a queen. Her journey speaks to the power of perseverance, grace, and purpose. She carries with her the dreams of many women who dare to break boundaries and claim their space on the global stage,” Minister Chikunga said.
“This moment is a powerful reminder that South African women are unstoppable. Tshego Gaelae’s journey is an inspiration, and we know she will continue to use her reign to drive meaningful change,” Minister Chikunga added.
It is the second time South Africa has held the prestigious title. The last time South Africa held the crown, was in 1958, when Penelope Anne Coelen, won the title.
The admitted attorney and Labour Relations manager took to Instagram to thank her fans for the unwavering support she received after getting crowned the new Mrs. World.
“TO GOD BE THE GLORY. Thank you so much for the love and support, I am beyond grateful and elated! My beautiful South Africa, the crown is coming Home,” she wrote.
Many of her fans as well as celebrity friends congratulated Gaelae on her prestigious win.
The chairman and director of Mrs South Africa beauty pageant, Matapa Maila congratulated Gaelae on her win.
In a lengthy Instagram caption, Maila wrote: “You took charge of changing the historical paradigm, you scripted a legacy that the entire nation is proud of. You ignited the fire for scholastic curiosity allowing light to shine through.
“You didn’t scare yourself out of the opportunity to dream limitlessly and today you are not only Tshego Gaelae, but you are Mrs World and forever Mrs South Africa,” she added.
South African celebrities as well as Gaelae’s fans flooded her Instagram comment section to congratulate her.
Actress Zenande Mfenyana said, “Wow!!! Congratulations @tshego_gaelae.”
Youtuber and Influencer Vanessa Padi wrote: “WOAH!! Congratulations beautiful - super proud of you.”
Mrs South Africa 2022 finalist Tumelo Nkese commented, “Congratulations Queen. May God continue to bless and elevate you with the deepest desires of your heart, you are truly phenomenal.”
The Mrs World is the first beauty pageant that caters for and celebrates married women, it also allows them to showcase their talent as well as their beauty to the world.
