If there’s one thing that tourists look forward to when visiting France, it has to be the food.

French cuisine is meant to be the best in the world, however, this does not seem to be the case at this year’s Olympic games where athletes from all over the world have gathered to represent their countries.

The Olympians don’t seem to be too impressed with what they are being served in the dining hall at the Olympic Village.

Moments after the US women’s gymnastics team won gold, the athletes didn’t have the best things to say about the food on offer in the dining halls.

During a press conference on Tuesday, a reporter asked if they were enjoying the French food.

“Here’s the thing. I don’t think we’re having proper French cuisine in the village like you guys might be eating because you're outside the village,” Simone Biles told reporters.

Her teammate Hezly Rivera said: “I don't think it's very good, at least what we're having in the dining hall. I definitely think French food is good, but what we’re having in there, I don’t think it’s the best. But it gets the job done.”

While the food might not be receiving the greatest reviews, there’s one item on the menu that has gone viral - the chocolate muffins - délicieux!

The chocolate muffins seem to have won the gold medal, with many athletes taking to TikTok to share their love for the treat.

With eight million views, Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen’s TikTok video of him enjoying the decadent-looking muffin has gone viral.

He has since posted other videos of him storing a whole bunch of muffins in his bedside table drawer and another video where he’s enjoying the view of the sunset as he once again munches on one.

His obsession with the muffins has gotten other athletes to seek them out.

US gymnast Aleah Finnegan posted a video with the overlay caption: “I understand the hype of these chocolate muffins in the village,” as she shows of her muffin.

Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjostrom was just as happy to find them, saying: “Found the famous muffin in the Olympic Village. Lucky me Henrick Christiansen saved some for me.”
