Film: Touching, but unspectacular film about a teen boy who struggles to find contentment with his tragic parents who just can't get their marital woes sorted.

Set in Swaziland, this tale happens during the dying days of the English hold in Africa. It includes all that staid English stiffness of colonial Britain.

Ralph's uneasy path begins when his mother walks out on their family with another man. He's packed off to boarding school and returns to an alcoholic father and an American stepmother.

An emotionally awkward teenager, he tries to make sense of the mad adults who crowd his life. As if growing up isn't painful enough. This family drama was written and directed by South African-born Richard E Grant and stars a few familiar local faces, including newspaper columnist John Matshikiza as a doctor.

Features: None.
