Upcoming show

“Local is Lekker”

The Westville Country Club Bowls Section have been performing mime shows to raise funds for the Bowls Section for several years.

Last year, under new producers Bridget and Dylan Mathews, they put together a show that was a complete departure from previous years. The new production incorporates more musical numbers and less comedy skits.

They have followed the same formula this year and with a cast of enthusiastic bowlers, produced a show titled “Local is Lekker”.

It has received rave reviews from those who attended performances at Westville Country Club Bowls.

It includes excerpts from Springbok Radio recordings and old South African adverts.

The show also features well known local songs both in English and Afrikaans, a few local comedy numbers and jokes with a local flavour.

In addition, attendees will get the chance to hear music from South African icons. They include Al Debbo, Brenda Fassie, Clout, David Kramer, Doctor Victor, Freshly Ground, Jeremy Taylor, Johnny Clegg, Kurt Darren, Mango Groove, Miriam Makeba, P J Powers, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, The Staccatos, amongst many more.

You can also bring food picnic baskets to enjoy at the show or you buy food at the venue.

No alcohol may be brought onto the premises but a bar is available.

Where: The Rhumbelow Theatre.

When: January 25 to 26.

Cost: Tickets cost R120 and are available through Webtickets.
