Riding the wave of fame, Thami Nyandeni is taking full advantage of his popularity gained from reality show “Married at First Sight Mzansi”.

Just as viewers were digesting the split of Nyandeni and Zithobile Sibiya, Nyandeni took to social media to announce a ‘Divorce Braai’ series of events.

Nyandeni and Sibiya met on the Connect TV reality show, where they took a chance at a marriage and walked down the aisle not knowing who will be their future spouse.

The show’s relationship/marriage experts paired the two, based on what was presented to them and what they could gather from their one-on-one therapy sessions. Based on their findings, they felt Nyandeni and Sibiya were a good match and would compliment each other.

During the reunion episode when questioned about the status of their relationship, Sibiya expressed how she felt her requirements were not catered for and pairing her with Nyandeni was a mistake. She made it clear that she and her then partner have parted ways and she is not going back.

Despite not being married legally, Nyandeni also shared that he does not intend on taking off his wedding ring, as he hopes to reconcile with Sibiya. He went on to say to her that he still cares for her and he will stay waiting for her to come back when she is ready to.

On Thursday, Nyandeni posted on Instagram that in December he will be hosting a series of all white-themed ‘Divorce Braais’. The events will not be free, as on the poster it showed that tickets will be going for R200. The post showed the braais will take place in Johannesburg, Newcastle, Vryheid, Richards Bay, Durban, and elsewhere.

The post was mostly met with shock, with some saying it’s just embarrassing and that he is desperate for fame.

@zintle_ngoma said, “You really want to be famous at any cost, this is embarrassing.”

@winniezandile said, “Desperation of being famous, you went to TV for being famous.”

Others did not seem to mind, saying that it’s fair that he is celebrating the divorce publicly because he was also married publicly.

@guemathonsi said, “Yes wena Thami. You were married in public, now celebrate your divorce in public. We dont want people to be asking you a year later ukhuthi How are things between you and Zithobile.”
