Pearl Thusi has been criticised by many of her followers and critics for her DJing skills after a viral video showed her literally spinning the decks during a set.
During 2024, the actress and media personality achieved her dream of becoming a DJ, something she had been working on for a long time.
Thusi may have been practising her skills for some time before publicly launching them but this is her first year DJing for crowds.
In a recent video clip taken at Busiswa’s homecoming festival in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, Thusi is heard playing a popular Amapiano song but added her own twist to the song, sparking quite huge and disapproving reactions online.

Maxdadj_ said: “Nna i wanna know who taught youthat 😂”
Linda_zondi said: “One day we need to sit down and discuss why people give Pearl so much hate. I don’t get it. She’s amazing.”
Thusi posted the video on her Instagram account but it managed to find its way onto X and when it was posted by a controversial gossip blogger.
In February, Thusi played her first gig at the Makhelwane Festival, after being worried about what everyone would say about her decision - for nearly a decade.
“I was always so worried about what everyone would say about this decision, for nearly a decade. Angisanandaba nezinkulumo zabantu (I no longer care what people have to say). I practised until I couldn’t stand.
“I’m so happy because I overcame the fear of judgment, forgetting that only God has the right to judge me. I’m free,” she said.
Since then Thusi has played at several top Mzansi clubs and festivals such as Friends of Amstel.
