Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s new song “Luther” continues to captivate the hearts of social media users and music lovers worldwide.
The song is part of the rapper’s album, “GNX”, which was released last month.
It has been a hit online as scores of social media users have gone viral after incorporating the track into their TikTok videos.
Much of the appeal of “Luther” is its catchy lyrics and vibrant melody. It also features nostalgic vibes as it samples Cheryl Lynn and Luther Vandross's hit, “If This World Were Mine”, which peaked at No 4 on the Billboard R&B Singles chart in 1982.
Vandross's voice serves as the opening and inspiration while Lamar and SZA add a modern twist to it.
Scores of users have taken to X to weigh in on the song.
This included @2PimpABfly, who posted: “Luther by Kendrick Lamar, 11/10.”
@avazura added: “I already replayed Luther so many times, I can’t even get through this Kendrick Lamar album.”
@BreCharis_ also commented: “That Luther song by Kendrick Lamar just sounds like a breath of fresh air every time I hear it ... it soothes me.”
This song follows on from the success of Lamar’s Drake beef track, “Not Like Us.”
It features on “GNX” alongside 11 other songs, including another song with SZA called “Gloria.”
The album, which is the musician’s last since 2022’s “Mr Morale and the Big Steppers”, which served as his comeback album after releasing “Damn” in 2017, also includes other exciting collaborations with Jack Antonoff, Kamasi Washington, AzChike and Sounwave, among others.
He also uses “GNX” to address his feud with Drake, including with the song “Heart Pt. 6.”
On “Wacced Out Murals”, he also acknowledges his upcoming Super Bowl half-time show performance and the disappointment that Lil Wayne expressed in not being chosen to represent his hometown, New Orleans, in February.
“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud,” he raps, “Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”
As Lamar’s “GNX” continues to grow from strength to strength, he is set to take this momentum into 2025.
He currently leads the 2025 Grammy 2025 nominations with 11 nods, including Best Rap Song, Record of the Year and Best Performance, among others.
Lamar has already won 17 Grammys and has received 57 Grammy nominations overall, solidifying his status as one of the biggest artists of his generation.
