Weddings are a time to celebrate and music plays an integral part in that aspect.
GroomsDay, an online wedding company, recently unveiled their findings on the most-played wedding songs of recent times.
According to the company, the right songs set the perfect tone, ensuring each moment, from the solemn exchange of vows to the euphoric finale on the dance floor, is unforgettable.
“Choosing the right music for your wedding can be the difference between a rowdy and memorable celebration and a dull event,” said Chris Bajda, a wedding expert from the company.
GroomsDay compiled their top 10 list through a meticulous analysis of Spotify's Most Popular Wedding Songs Globally playlist as well as by gathering average monthly search volume data using a strategic keyword selection, such as “wedding song” and “wedding dance”.
Leading the Top 10 is “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars, which boasts a staggering 2 billion streams on Spotify.
With a magnetic mix of funky rhythms and vivid lyrics, it’s no surprise this song is a dance floor staple that appeals to guests of all ages.
“Hey Ya!” by OutKast secured the second spot. Released in 2003, this infectious anthem commands attention, ensuring not a single soul remains seated when its unmistakable opening notes fill the air.
Giving romantic vibes is John Legend’s “All of Me”. This song has captured hearts since its release in 2013, emerging as a quintessential choice for first dances.
Fourth place goes to “Wake Me Up” by Avicii and “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran followed closely behind in fifth place.
Macklemore’s “Can't Hold Us” is at No 6 and “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars is at No 7.
“A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri, “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas completed the list at 8, 9 and 10, respectively.
The study highlights that many of the current top wedding songs manage to blend modern appeal with enduring charm.
Bajda shares that music choices are just as critical as the venue or the floral arrangements.
“Each song tells part of the couple’s journey, their love story and their shared joy.”
