Reality TV star and businesswoman Mrs Mops is sharing her secrets on how to make it in the entertainment industry.
In a Showmax masterclass, she advises on building a personal brand, using social media, and staying relevant in the industry.
Mrs Mops, whose real name is Nompumelelo Ledwaba, says being real is the most important thing in reality TV.
“We want someone who is authentically themselves. There are 8 billion people in the world, and everyone is unique,” she says.
She admits that when she first started, she made mistakes by trying to be someone she was not.
“When I first got into the reality TV space, I made the mistake of not being true to myself, and boy oh boy, was I called out and the mask fell off.”
Mrs Mops says that understanding your role on camera is key.
“Because you are living your true life, you are dealing with real-life issues on camera, so you have no choice but to be your true authentic self.”
She also talks about the importance of social media.
“To grow your presence, you need to be consistent. Post everyday – that’s the smarter way to grow your audience.”
She believes having the right team is just as important.
“From PR professionals to agents and makeup stylists, everyone you work with has the power to shape your career – for better or worse.”
Mrs Mops first gained fame on “The Real Housewives of Johannesburg” Season 2 and later became a fan favourite on “The Mommy Club”.
Now, she is using her experience to help the next generation of reality TV stars succeed.
