The music industry was devastated by the untimely passing of Liam Payne, a former member of One Direction, at the age of 31 last year. He was found after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Fans, friends, and family have been reeling from the devastating loss, and now, the BRIT Awards are preparing a special tribute to honour the late singer.

According to “The Sun”, the BRIT Awards ceremony in 2025 could see Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan reunite on stage to honour their late bandmate.

This would mark the first time the four remaining members have shared the stage since the band parted ways in 2016.

A source close to the band told the tabloid: “The tribute to Liam at this year’s awards show has caused a real buzz and speculation that the remaining One Direction bandmates could finally come back together again on stage.”

The insider also mentioned that plans for the tribute were already being discussed, saying, “It would be an entirely fitting way to honour Liam, and talks are already underway about how to make this segment of the Brits unforgettable.”

While details about the tribute are still being finalised, it’s clear that fans are eager to see the bandmates reunite.

The band officially went on hiatus in 2016 after Malik’s departure in 2015. Since then, Styles, Horan, Tomlinson and Payne have pursued solo careers, with varying degrees of success.

Over the years, some of the members have expressed openness to the idea of a reunion but have also emphasised the importance of timing and personal projects.

In an interview with “Us Weekly” in 2022, Payne, mentioned that while the idea of reuniting with his bandmates was something that had been discussed, it wasn’t something that would happen immediately.

He noted that everyone was focused on their solo careers, but there was still a possibility of coming together in the future. Payne said: "I think there will be a time for it, but right now, it's not the right time."

Another source told “Us Weekly” in December that the death of Payne has brought the remaining bandmates closer together.

“They’re all still mourning but are checking in on each other and feel closer than they have in years,” the source revealed. “It brought them back together.”
