Durban — A Phoenix family is searching for Ronni Madurai, 63, who was last seen leaving his Clayfield home on Saturday morning.
When the Daily News reached out to the family, they were on the way to the police station to open a missing person’s case after they had exhausted all leads.
According to Ashique Singh, it was difficult to trace where his father could be because Madurai left home on foot. The family, on Saturday, took to social media appealing for any information on their father’s whereabouts.
The family received a tip-off that he might have been seen at a garage in the area around about 6.30 pm but when the family interviewed people in the vicinity, none had seen him.
“Another man phoned me after seeing the Facebook post and told me he had seen him around this area (near the garage) around 6.30 pm. We are from the area, this garage we are talking about is not far from our home and we went there, but no one has seen him. He is not the kind of person that would do something like this. What’s concerning with not finding him is that from our home to this garage is a walking distance.”
Singh said his father had about R100 or R150 on him when he left.
He said they had also reached out to relatives who lived within the same area and they still had not yet been able to find his father.
“We also have family in Pietermaritzburg, so I thought maybe he had used the cash to get to Maritzburg. But when we contacted relatives there, they said they had not heard from him.”
