Durban — Former SABC presenter and Education spokesperson Mandla Msibi has died.
Msibi, 68, who was the late National Freedom Party (NFP) leader Zanele Magwaza-Msibi’s husband, died early on Monday after he was rushed to hospital.
His daughter Sithembile Msibi confirmed to the Daily News on Monday that her father had died, adding that he had the flu last week which did not appear to be a serious illness.
Msibi’s party was quick to send condolences to the family.
KwaZulu-Natal provincial secretary Zandile Myeni said the party had just woken up to the sad news of the passing of their late president kaMagwaza-Msibi’s husband due to a short illness.
She said she noticed that they died in the same month because she also died in September last year.
“We would like to send our deepest condolences to Msibi's family. May God give them strength at this difficult time,” said Myeni.
Msibi was the provincial Education spokesperson after leaving the SABC in the ’90s. In 2008 he married the late kaMagwaza-Msibi who at the time was the IFP national chairperson. The wedding was also attended by Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
