RADIO Sonder Grense (RSG) will once again feature their on-air Arts Festival. The showcase, from November 10 to 14, will include theatre, comedy, music and even an experiment with silence.

Last year’s inaugural festival won a Fleur du Cap award, and most recently a Business Arts South Africa (Basa) award for innovation.

Its starts on Monday with actress June van Merch as Katriena, the character created by Riana Scheepers.

Russian playwright Anton Chekov is celebrated with a short drama Op pad, as well as the solo piece Die Euwels van Tabak with Tobie Cronjé.

The producer of the Chekov productions is André Stolz and the cast includes Rolanda Marais, Grethe Fox, Jacques Bessenger, Danielle Retief and Gérard Rudolf.

Koning Lear promises to be a radio drama highlight.

RSG decided to produce Uys Krige’s Afrikaans translation, which is more than 50 years old.

Veteran Louis van Niekerk will be Lear. The director is Bettie Kemp.
