CAMPHILL Village West Coast has confirmed Hemelbesem as the MC at this year’s Camphill Village Music Festival on October 31. The line-up includes Beatenberg, Just Jinjer, Ottoman Slap, Bootleggers and Swallowers of Time.

Artist, poet-cum-activist Hemelbesem is considered by some to be the leading Afrikaans hip hop artist over the last five years and is also known as a presenter for the weekly Afrikaans magazine TV programme Pasella on SABC 2. He is also a member of the ATKV Project team for their nationwide Liedjieslypskool projects and has been the creative force in the kykNet documentary Vat Die Rap. In addition to his role as MC, Hemel- besem will also perform at the gig.

The festival will be an outdoor concert with a variety of great food and wine stalls. Punters can access the countryside festival grounds for a day of good vibes and fabulous music from 1pm to 7pm. Gates open at 11am.

James Sleigh, MD of Camphill Village West Coast says that they are excited to have Just Jinjer and Beatenberg as the headliners of this year’s event.

“Beatenberg is the fresh new face of pop music from South Africa. They won a total of seven Samas in 2015, including Best Album. Just Jinjer also needs no introduction. They are South African music legends.” Sleigh adds that with names like these on the bill the showcase will hopefully grow to be a highlight on the festival calendar in the Western Cape. Add to that Ottoman Slap’s exotic flair, Bootleggers’ mojo and the Swallowers of Time’s blues-rock vibes, the organisers hope the show will be an unforgettable experience.

There will be various competitions on the day. A Beatenberg fan could win 15-minutes with Beatenberg and meet them in person at event on October 31.
