Cape Town - Police have arrested two foreign nationals in Milnerton for possession of drugs.

Provincial spokesperson Ndake Gwala said: “We are committed to the cause of a crime-free society and extend gratitude to the public, who play a vital role in the fight against crime by reporting criminal activities. These tip-offs contribute towards eradicating drugs and illegal firearms.”

Milnerton police seized an assortment of drugs worth R500 000.

Gwala said: “Members of the Milnerton Crime Prevention Unit received information about a suspicious vehicle driving from Parklands to Cape Town on Tuesday, January 17.

“They parked and were performing observation duties at Lagoon Beach at around midday when they spotted the vehicle and pulled it over. A search was conducted which led to the confiscation of tik and cocaine worth R500 000, and an undisclosed amount of cash,” he said.

Two men, aged 37 and 45, were arrested and detained at Milnerton SAPS and are expected to appear at the Goodwood Magistrate’s court once charged.

In Khayelitsha, a task team assigned to deal with extortion activities in the province, stopped a house robbery following a radio complaint.

“Members who were deployed in Harare, Khayelitsha, were doing patrols on Monday, January 16. They were informed of a house robbery in progress at Hamba Street, Harare.

“The members responded promptly and as they arrived at the address, two male suspects came out running.

“One was caught behind the house while the other one fled to the neighbour’s yard with police members in pursuit. Both suspects were arrested and a gas gun with ammunition and tik was confiscated,” Gwala said.
