Johannesburg - White corn gained the most in more than three weeks in South Africa, the biggest producer of the grain on the continent.
White corn for delivery in July rose 0.3 percent, the most since June 11, to close at 1,769 rand a metric ton on the South African Futures Exchange in Johannesburg.
The yellow variety for December delivery increased 0.3 percent to 1,959 rand a ton.
South African farmers will probably harvest 13.9 million tons of both varieties of the grain this year, the Crop Estimates Committee said June 26.
That would be the largest harvest since the 14.1 million tons produced in 1981.
The white variety is used to make a staple food known locally as pap, while yellow corn is mainly used in animal feed.
Wheat for delivery in December rose 0.5 percent to 3,619 rand a ton. - Bloomberg News
